Baseball Recap: St. George's Takes a Loss

St. George extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 22 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They came up short against the Buckingham Browne & Nichols Knights, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in April.

St. George's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baker Whisnand, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Whisnand's first of the season.

As for Buckingham Browne & Nichols, the win got them back to even at 9-9-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Buckingham Browne & Nichols' side, KENNETH TSAY looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. TSAY also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Knights are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on DAN GRAPSKI, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was GUS INADA, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.

St. George's wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-1 loss against Thayer Academy on the 17th. Buckingham Browne & Nichols has also already played their next game (against Portsmouth Abbey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
