Basketball Recap: Mapleton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mckenzie

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mapleton). They blew past the McKenzie Eagles, posting a 57-21 win. The Sailors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Lucie Burruss was her usual excellent self, going 6 of 14 on her way to 13 points along with seven boards and five steals. Burruss is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Morgan Milbrett, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Mapleton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for McKenzie, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Mapleton will square off against Mohawk at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mohawk will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mapleton surely won't give up without a fight. McKenzie has already played their next contest (against Alsea), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
