Baseball Recap: Swansboro Comes Up Short

Swansboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hoggard Vikings. The Pirates were not able to make up for their loss to the Vikings from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Swansboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dean Germosen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Landen Jenkins also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Swansboro's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hoggard, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Swansboro will square off against Richlands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Richlands has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Hoggard, they will face off against Laney at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Laney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
