Baseball Game Preview: Lafayette Commodores vs. Clarksdale Wildcats

Lafayette is a perfect 3-0 against Clarksdale since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lafayette Commodores will challenge the Clarksdale Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Lafayette's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Clarksdale's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lafayette took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Clarksdale. That looming 11-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Commodores yet this season.

Tanner Harris spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Caleb Guest and Collin Waldrip did most of the damage at the plate: Guest scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Waldrip scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Guest also scored three runs, which is notable because Lafayette is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lane Theobald, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Clarksdale has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. Lafayette's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-6.
