Volleyball Recap: Irondequoit Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Webster Schroeder

Irondequoit faced Webster Schroeder in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Irondequoit started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-23.

Gia Meeks paced Irondequoit's offense, picking up 12 kills. Meeks got some help from Sadie Leger and her 18 assists. Leger also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Leah Greco, each putting up two.

Leading Webster Schroeder to victory were Maddie Siphakongviseth and Lauryn Watson. Siphakongviseth had 42 digs and two assists, while Watson had six digs and four aces. Siphakongviseth is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 11 games she's played.

Irondequoit's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5-3. As for Webster Schroeder, they pushed their record up to 19-2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Irondequoit wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Gates Chili on the 7th.
