League recap: Plaquemine tops Tara to extend winning streak

Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A District 6 this week, Plaquemine beat Tara 41-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Devils.

The Trojans lost to Plaquemine 41-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Lutcher's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. CHRISTIAN MATHERNE threw for 199 and 4 touchdowns and NICK BOURGEOIS had 68 yards receiving. On the ground DONDRE SEMIEN contributed 99 yards. DESTIN PORTER helped Lutcher's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 56 yards.

He went 13-17 with 1 interception.

MATHERNE put up the best numbers in passing as the Bulldogs bested Miller-McCoy Academy. MATHERNE's favorite target this week was BOURGEOIS, who caught 3 passes for 68 yards.

Lutcher's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. MATHERNE has thrown for 1,086 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while PORTER has 26 catches for 425 yards.

SEMIEN of the Lutcher is only 66 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 134 carries SEMIEN has put up 934 yards this year.

Tim Detillier's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 47 points on Miller-McCoy Academy. MATHERNE ran for 41 yards in the win.
