Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Beats Western for Their Second Straight Victory

Western came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Cardinal Gibbons, but Avery Paton wouldn't allow it. The Chiefs walked away with a 3-1 win over the Wildcats on Thursday with plenty of help from Paton, who had 25 digs and four assists. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Cardinal Gibbons had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-19, 25-19, 27-25.

When it comes to explaining why Western lost, don't look at Sarah Perez (Ojeda). Despite the final result, she had 19 digs and two aces.

Cardinal Gibbons has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Western, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Cardinal Gibbons has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Neumann on the 30th. As for Western, they are taking a road trip to challenge St. Thomas Aquinas at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
