Baseball Recap: West Deptford Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

West Deptford got themselves on the board against Clearview on Saturday, but Clearview never followed suit. They came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cole McKenna made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

McKenna wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Juan Morales, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

West Deptford is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Clearview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4.

Coming up, West Deptford will venture away from home to square off against Audubon at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.9, the Green Wave 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Clearview, they will welcome Gloucester County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
