Spring Creek hadn't done well against Eastern Wayne recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Spring Creek Gators narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eastern Wayne Warriors 39-37. This was a revenge game for the Gators: when they faced off against the Warriors two weeks ago, they had to take a 55-36 defeat.

Despite the loss, Eastern Wayne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tamiya Boone posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. Those 11 boards gave Boone a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taleia Claude, who put up 11 points and four steals.

Spring Creek's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Eastern Wayne, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.

Looking ahead, Spring Creek will venture away from home to square off against Goldsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Goldsboro will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Spring Creek surely won't give up without a fight. Eastern Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
