After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lanier County, Irwin County was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Atkinson County Rebels with a sharp 12-4 win. Considering the Indians have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Irwin County let Brynlee Brown and Sailor Mixon loose on the outfield. Brown scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Mixon scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were Brown's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilee Smith, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Irwin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atkinson County only posted an OBP of .273.

Irwin County's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Atkinson County, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-3.

Irwin County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-7 win vs. Wilcox County on the 26th. As for Atkinson County, they will venture away from home to take on Turner County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Atkinson County is facing Turner County at the right time seeing as Turner County is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
