Softball Recap: Logan Takes Down Ranked Malad

Logan is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Malad. The Grizzlies had just enough and edged out the Dragons 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted since April 19, 2024.

Norah Zundel looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kiki Laing, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Cadence Boyer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Logan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.

The victory made it two in a row for Logan and bumps their season record up to 7-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Malad, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Looking ahead, Logan will face off against Mountain Crest at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Grizzlies are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Malad, they will host Declo at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
