Baseball Recap: Vernon Triumphs

While Vernon's victory against Kittatinny Regional wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Cougars on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.

Gavin Bruno was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Junior Troche also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Vernon pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Kittatinny Regional, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Vernon will venture away from home to take on Pequannock at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kittatinny Regional, they will face off against Whippany Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
