Softball Recap: Voorheesville Comes Up Short

Voorheesville suffered their biggest defeat since April 26, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs, falling 12-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blackbirds of the 9-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Skylar Schmidt was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Maddy Tabakian was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Voorheesville is on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4. As for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, the win keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Voorheesville will take on Salem at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Berne-Knox-Westerlo, they will face off against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
