Softball Recap: Northside Mustangs vs. Amundsen Vikings

Northside had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it 12. They lost 15-2 to the Amundsen Vikings. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 6-5 to the Vikings when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Northside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yailyn Medina, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Amundsen, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

On Amundsen's side, Allie Reynolds was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Looking ahead, Northside will face off against Von Steuben at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Amundsen, they will square off against Lane Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
