After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bloomington South, Franklin Community was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Greenwood Woodmen. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in April.

Braeden Burton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carsten Bland, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Franklin Community has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Franklin Community beat the Woodmen by a score of 11-3 later that day.
