Basketball Recap: Chalmette Takes a Loss

Chalmette lost against Salmen back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Chalmette Owls took a 54-36 bruising from the Salmen Spartans. The Owls have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Salmen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Akayla Mcmooain, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Mcmooain a new career-high in rebounds. Kendal Thomas was another key player, going 6 for 15 on her way to 16 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Chalmette now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Salmen, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chalmette will welcome Northshore at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Salmen, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Mandeville at 6:00 p.m.
