Pen Argyl suffers eighth straight loss on the road

Recap: Pen Argyl Green Knights vs. Mahanoy Area Golden Bears

This season hasn't been kind to the Pen Argyl Green Knights, who are still winless after their tenth match. They suffered a tough 49-23 defeat at the hands of Mahanoy Area on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Pen Argyl can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 685th, while Mahanoy Area is ranked 86th).

When it comes to explaining why Pen Argyl lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Mclaughlin. Despite the final result, he scored seven points. Mclaughlin scored a full 30.4% of Pen Argyl's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Pen Argyl's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-10. As for Mahanoy Area, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Pen Argyl will head out on the road to face off against Palisades at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Palisades and Pen Argyl are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Mahanoy Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marian Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Marian Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
