Basketball Recap: Hermiston Comes Up Short

Hermiston managed to keep up with Chiawana until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Hermiston Bulldogs were outmatched by the Chiawana Riverhawks and fell 87-60. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Riverhawks: they've now lost nine in a row.

Chiawana's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malia Ruud, who went 7 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaia Foster, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Hermiston's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Chiawana, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Hermiston will head out to square off against Hanford at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hermiston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for Chiawana, they will face off against Kamiakin at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Chiawana is on a six-game streak of home wins, Kamiakin a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
