Basketball Game Preview: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Stratton Eagles

Kit Carson hasn't had much luck against Stratton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Kit Carson Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Stratton Eagles at 4:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Kit Carson didn't have quite enough to beat Springfield and fell 46-43. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Kit Carson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Junior Farmer posted 14 points and five rebounds. Brennan Framel was another key player, putting up four points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Stratton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took down the Wildcats 56-40. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Wildcats are ranked 316th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Stratton has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Kit Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Kit Carson was dealt a bruising 65-35 loss at the hands of Stratton in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Kit Carson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
