Baseball Recap: Atholton Beats Guilford Park for Their Third Straight Victory

Atholton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Guilford Park Panther as they made off with a 21-7 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 22-1 back in March.

Jack Martin was incredible, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Atholton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Josh Meadows was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Atholton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Atholton pushed their record up to 7-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Guilford Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, Atholton and Guilford Park will both be playing Marriotts Ridge the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face Marriotts Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Panther will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
