Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Westwood's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Westwood hadn't done well against Spring Valley recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Redhawks walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Vikings. This was payback for the Redhawks, who suffered a 15-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gabriel Espinosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Westwood got a big performance out of Nathan Caldwell, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jayden Quarles was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Westwood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.

Westwood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
