Basketball Recap: Myrtle Drops Highest Score of Season Against Walnut + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Myrtle). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 victory over the Walnut Wildcats on Friday. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered an 81-61 loss the last time these two teams met.

Despite the loss, Walnut still got an impressive performance from Logan Wilbanks, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 40 points. That was a full 67.8% of the Wildcats' points, marking the ninth time in a row Wilbanks has posted more than a third of the team's points. Joshua Luster was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Myrtle's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Walnut, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Myrtle will be home for the holidays to greet Strayhorn at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Walnut, they will venture away from home to face off against Corinth at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
