After losing to Helix the last time they met, Montgomery decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Montgomery Aztecs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Helix Highlanders on Wednesday.

Montgomery got a great performance from Jesus Cano as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Montgomery saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Flores, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Montgomery back to even at 1-1. As for Helix, their record now sits at an identical 1-1.

Coming up, Montgomery will be playing at home against Westview at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Helix, they will be taking part in a tournament against Otay Ranch at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The last six games Helix has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
