Volleyball Recap: Mya Moshrefi Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Upland

After losing to Upland the last time they met, St. Lucy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Regents came out on top against the Highlanders/Scots by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Regents.

St. Lucy's had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 14-25, 25-19, 25-12, 25-20.

St. Lucy's got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mya Moshrefi out in front who had 16 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Moshrefi has posted over her last three matches.

Moshrefi wasn't the only good server: St. Lucy's was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

St. Lucy's now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Upland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

St. Lucy's and Upland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Regents will take on Chino Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (506 vs. 239). Meanwhile, Upland (ranked 639th) will meet Los Osos (ranked 80th) at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
