Baseball Recap: Decatur Bulldogs vs. Cotter Warriors
Decatur extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They came up short against the Cotter Warriors, falling 17-0. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 19-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in March of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Cotter, they now have a winning record of 10-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.
For Cotter's part, Will Morris made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Morris has become a key player for Cotter: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 7-8 otherwise. Morris was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Wesley Perkey was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Adams, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Decatur does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cotter, they will square off against Flippin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
