Basketball Recap: Pike Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Lawrence North

On Friday, Pike faced Lawrence North in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pike Red Devils took a blow against the Lawrence North Wildcats, falling 67-39. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-18.

Lawrence North was led to victory by Keadriah Butler and Kya Hurt. Butler shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards, while Hurt went 7 of 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Butler a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalea Bentley, who posted five points.

Pike has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-6 record this season. As for Lawrence North, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Pike will challenge Brownsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brownsburg will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Pike surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lawrence North, they will square off against Indianapolis Arsenal Technical at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
