Volleyball Recap: Ashlynn Turner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wetumpka over Sylacauga

Wetumpka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sylacauga Aggies.

Wetumpka came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 26-24, 17-15.

Wetumpka's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlynn Turner, who had 22 digs and two aces. With that strong performance, Turner is now averaging an impressive 10.4 digs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Burdett, who had 18 digs.

Wetumpka's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Sylacauga, they moved to 8-13 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

Looking ahead, Wetumpka will challenge Trinity Presbyterian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sylacauga does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
