Basketball Recap: Woodlawn Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Woodlawn entered their tilt with Lawrenceville on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Lawrenceville Indians 59-41. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cardinals also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Woodlawn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashtyn Griffin, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Griffin is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Sophia Skinner, who posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Woodlawn was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addeline Sanders, who put up 17 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Sanders' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Lockhart, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points.

Woodlawn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Lawrenceville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Woodlawn didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-41 loss against Newton on the 28th. As for Lawrenceville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 52-20 defeat against Fairfield on the 27th.
