Softball Recap: Rock Island Has No Trouble Against Galesburg

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Metamora, Rock Island was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Galesburg Silver Streaks. The Rocks not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 15-0).

Nobody will forget Maddie Carroll's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Galesburg's batters): she turned in a perfect game. Carroll has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mallory Hudnall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. AJ Lincoln was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Rock Island's record now sits at 11-6. As for Galesburg, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Coming up, Rock Island will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Orion at 4:30 p.m. The Rocks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
