Softball Game Preview: Maiden Blue Devils vs. Lincoln Charter Eagles

Maiden has gone a perfect 4-0 against Lincoln Charter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blue Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Maiden didn't have quite enough to beat West Caldwell and fell 3-1. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maiden saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Wray, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Wray is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln Charter). They put the hurt on Langtree Charter Academy with a sharp 20-5 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won nine in a row.

Lincoln Charter pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Maiden, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Maiden skirted past Lincoln Charter 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
