Basketball Recap: Perry County Vikings vs. Summertown Eagles
Perry County lost against Summertown back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Perry County Vikings fell 69-59 to the Summertown Eagles. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly ten points.
Despite the loss, Perry County still got an impressive performance from Colton Pevahouse, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 22 points and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Warren, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points in addition to six boards and three blocks.
Pevahouse wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Perry County was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summertown only racked up 14 assists.
It was another big night for Kurt Burleson, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds for Summertown. Burleson's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Sawyer Sherman was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Perry County and nudges their season record down to 7-13. As for Summertown, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Perry County will host Collinwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Perry County is facing Collinwood at the right time seeing as Collinwood is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Summertown, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lewis County at 6:00 p.m. Summertown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.5 points per game this season.
