Baseball Game Preview: Cross County Thunderbirds vs. Nemo Vista Red Hawks

The Cross County Thunderbirds will challenge the Nemo Vista Red Hawks at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cross County has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cross County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Corning on Friday. They lost 12-2 to the Bobcats.

Cross County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Knoa Roberts, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Roberts hit this season.

Meanwhile, Nemo Vista came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Daredevils 22-5. Considering the Red Hawks have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Nemo Vista pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Cross County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
