With a playoff win on the line, Lake Region rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Jones Fightin' Tigers a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Thunder have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Makenna Meadows made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meadows was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lake Region got a massive performance out of Bailee Ellis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Ellis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Margaret Jenkins, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Lake Region always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fifth in a row for Lake Region, bringing their record up to 23-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Lake Region will challenge Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Thunder 1.4, the Highlanders 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Jones does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
