Freedom has gone a perfect 10-0 against Clintonville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Irish will square off against the Truckers at 4:30 p.m. Freedom is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Freedom barely beat Waupaca the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Irish were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Comets on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Irish have won by exactly ten runs.
Freedom got a great performance from Kailey Stordeur as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Carrington Klug was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Kaia McVay was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Freedom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Clintonville came up short against Denmark on Tuesday, falling 12-2. The Truckers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Clintonville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Tate, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Freedom's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Clintonville, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Freedom's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Irish have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Clintonville, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Freedom continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Freedom's way against Clintonville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Freedom made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Irish since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
