Preview: Terry Sanford Bulldogs vs. Vance County Vipers
Two dominant signal callers in Jaylen Wright and Javion Vines-holder are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Terry Sanford Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Vance County Vipers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Terry Sanford sitting on three straight victories and Vance County on ten.
Last Friday, Terry Sanford got themselves on the board against Western Harnett, but Western Harnett never followed suit. They breezed by the Eagles at home to the tune of 55-0. The result was nothing new for Terry Sanford, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Terry Sanford can attribute much of their success to Kenyon Slaughter-keen, who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Wright was another key contributor, rushing for seven yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Vance County put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 61-6 victory over J.F. Webb. Vance County pushed the score to 61-0 by the end of the third, a deficit J.F. Webb cut but never quite recovered from.
Vance County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Vines-holder led the charge by rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 106 yards and three touchdowns. Zahbir Goggins also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Terry Sanford to 6-4 and Vance County to 10-0.
