Evanston had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 2-8 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Highland Park Giants 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildkits have posted since May 17, 2024.
Maya Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
