Recap: Juab Wasps vs. Dixie Flyers

It was a good run, but the Juab Wasps unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixie.

When it comes to explaining why Juab lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lucy Richards. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Richards set a new season high mark in rebounds with nine. Another player making a difference was Addison Hyatt, who scored five points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Juab were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixie only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.

Kealah Faumuina continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dixie, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Faumuina's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hali Smith, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Juab's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1. As for Dixie, their win was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Juab and Emery will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Emery focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday. Dixie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Desert Pines at 2:00 p.m. on December 9th. Desert Pines is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.4 points per game.
