Softball Preview: Western Guilford Hornets vs. Grimsley Whirlies
The Western Guilford Hornets will head out to take on the Grimsley Whirlies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 12 consecutive losses for Western Guilford and five for Grimsley.
Western Guilford came up short against Ben L. Smith on Wednesday, falling 23-13. Even if the Hornets couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Natalie Espitia made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Russell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Grimsley didn't have quite enough to beat Williams on Wednesday and fell 10-9.
