The Kingsville Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Concordia Fighting Orioles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Kingsville will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Wellington-Napoleon, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Kingsville walked away with a 19-16 victory over Wellington-Napoleon on Wednesday. Kingsville's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Kylie Stout, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Collens, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Kingsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .587. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Concordia had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Orioles, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Hemme made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Concordia let Addison Roepe and Ava Mueller run wild. Roepe scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Mueller scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Emily Wilkens was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
Concordia pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Kingsville, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.
Kingsville suffered a grim 18-1 defeat to Concordia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
