The Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes will take on the Temple Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Duncanville is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Duncanville's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cedar Hill 29-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers and Pantherettes, who have now won six contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Robert Singleton was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 82 yards and three touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Duncanville proved: they limited Cedar Hill to a paltry 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Jaylyn Manning for the heroic effort on defense: he. Duncanville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged six.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Temple's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 24-14 to Harker Heights. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Knights are ranked 96th).
Duncanville will need to focus on slowing down Cavalli Nealy, one of several Temple players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 101 yards on only 14 carries. Nealy's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
Temple's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Duncanville, their record now sits at 7-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Duncanville has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 153.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Temple struggles in that department as they've been averaging 217.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Duncanville against Temple when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 49-7 win. Do the Panthers and Pantherettes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
