Bucklin-Macon County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on December 1st after their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They fell just short of Hale by a score of 53-50.
Meanwhile, even though Braymer scored an imposing 57 points on Saturday, Grundy County/Newtown-Harris still came out on top. Grundy County/Newtown-Harris escaped with a win against Braymer by the margin of a single free throw, 58-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris.
Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corbin Axtell, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Axtell has scored at least 25% of Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Cross, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Bucklin-Macon County's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
