Volleyball Recap: Cristo Rey Falls to Cushman in First Game of Season

Cristo Rey had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 2-0 to the Cushman Cougars on Saturday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Cristo Rey was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring four points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-4, 25-4.

Cushman found their leader in sophomore Kelly Lopez, who had 11 aces and 11 assists.

The victory got Cushman back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Cristo Rey and Cushman will both be playing Basilica the next time they take the court. The Cougars will host the Mariners at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Monarchs will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
