Softball Game Preview: Reedy Lions vs. The Colony Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Reedy Lions take on The Colony Cougars at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Reedy will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Reedy made easy work of Creekview and carried off a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Malaina Boyst looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Katelyn Crosby was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Petersdorf, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Reedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .325 or higher in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, The Colony lost 17-1 to Wakeland on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.

Reedy pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for The Colony, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Reedy took their win against The Colony in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 16-8 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
