Basketball Game Preview: Sevier County Smoky Bears vs. Oak Ridge Wildcats

The Sevier County Smoky Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Oak Ridge Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Sevier County sitting on nine straight victories and Oak Ridge on 13.

Last Thursday, Sevier County strolled past Morristown-Hamblen West with points to spare, taking the game 77-58. Given the Smoky Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Trojans are ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Oak Ridge beat Fulton 54-49 on Saturday.

Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.6 points. As for Sevier County, their record is now 22-5.

Sevier County came up short against Oak Ridge in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 65-52. Can Sevier County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
