Baseball Game Preview: Poteet Aggies vs. Jourdanton Indians/Squaws

Poteet hasn't had much luck against Jourdanton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Aggies will look to defend their home field against the Indians/Squaws at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poteet lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cole, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Aggies put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 8-2 victory on Tuesday. That looming 8-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Aggies yet this season.

Meanwhile, Jourdanton came tearing into Tuesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Bulldogs.

The team relied heavily on Wyatt Avery, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Roman Mendoza was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Jourdanton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Poteet, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13-1.
