League recap: Mt. Vernon's Ellis delivers best pitching performance from past week

South Seven's top pitcher this week was Mt. Vernon's Tyler Ellis. Over the past week, he had one win and six Ks.

Centralia went from 290 to 260 in the Illinois state rankings since last week after going 4-3 in the past seven days.

The Rams' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 22 hits and four walks to lead the league in both categories. Mt. Vernon has given up a mere 228 hits on the year, while striking out 208 opposing hitters. Jared Anthis is the leader in that category with 63 Ks on the season.

Colten Meador went 4-4 as Belleville West defeated Mt. Vernon 3-1 on Monday. He also drove in two runners.
