Charlie Melin posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Monday. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Lake Forest's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 8-12 when he doesn't).

Melin's strong effort led Lake Forest over Waukegan and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
