After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Weehawken, Dickinson was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Shabazz Bulldogs by a score of 9-4. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ricardo Hernandez made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jose Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Gadden Yeshi, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Dickinson's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Shabazz, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Looking ahead, Dickinson will look to defend their home field on Monday against McNair Academic at 10:30 a.m. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shabazz, they will head out on the road to face off against Newark Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
