Flag Football Game Preview: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Highlands Ranch Falcons

The Chaparral Wolverines will challenge the Highlands Ranch Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chaparral has five straight victories, Highlands Ranch has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Chaparral is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Rock Canyon, who was ranked 13th at the time (Chaparral was ranked fifth). The Wolverines blew past the Jaguars 32-12 on Saturday. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Chaparral found their leader in sophomore Zoey Fink, who threw for 425 yards and four TDs while completing 72.1% of her passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. Those 425 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Fink.

Chaparral didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Sydney Matthews and Chloe Petrillo were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece.

Meanwhile, Highlands Ranch came up short against Columbine on Saturday and fell 20-7.

Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Highlands Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Chaparral against Highlands Ranch in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 33-6 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Falcons' Addison McLeod, who rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 30 receiving yards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Wolverines still be able to contain McLeod? There's only one way to find out.
