Baseball Recap: Lansingburgh's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Lansingburgh can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Hoosick Falls Panthers 11-9. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Dan Pondillo made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnny Cronk, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Lansingburgh: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Braedan Kepner was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lansingburgh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Lansingburgh picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 8-11. As for Hoosick Falls, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Coming up, Lansingburgh will welcome Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hoosick Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
